Residency for visual artist from Croatia

We are extremely excited to announce the next open call for a two-month residency dedicated to artists! We offer space and time for your artistic creation in a studio in the historic center of Trnava, Slovakia.
Malý Berlín (Trnava, Slovakia) and Culture Hub Croatia (Split, Croatia) are launching an open call for a two-month residency dedicated to visual artist. The residency is suitable for artists with a focus on fine arts, and large-scale artworks (conceptual art, installation, sculpture, painting). It offers accommodation with a studio, technical and production support, necessary materials, and the possibility to live and work within a lively arts scene and community.
PERIOD OF THE RESIDENCY:
Two months (September – October 2025), starting in September – exact date to be agreed with the selected artist.
ABOUT HOSTING INSTITUTION:
Cultural Center Malý Berlín
Malý Berlín is an independent cultural center in the historic center of Trnava. It has two event spaces where more than 300 cultural and educational events take place every year. We are member of the Trans Europe Halles network, where we launched the Easthub platform – within which we actively try to develop cultural cooperation between post-communist countries. Our international projects also cover topics such as cultural heritage, innovation, modernism, and climate change.
Malý Berlín offers several funded residencies each year. Residents receive financial and travel support, free accommodation, and workspace. During the residency, we kindly ask our residents to do at least one public event with us, other than a presentation of the results of residency.
RESIDENCY OFFER:
- free accommodation in the city center,
- studio space,
- artist fee 500 € per month / 1000 € in total,
- material costs up to 200 €,
- travel costs up to 400 €,
- curatorial, production, and PR support,
- connection with the local cultural scene and artists.
THE EXPECTATIONS FROM RESIDENT:
- active participation in residency,
- presentation for a local artistic audience,
- final public presentation of the work and activities (lecture, workshop, artist talk, art, exhibition, etc.) at the end of the residency,
- reports on a regular basis.
The application form must include three documents in English and PDF format:
- CV
- portfolio (max. 15 pages)
- cover letter (motivation and why you want to participate in the residency, if appropriate, also project proposals or topics that you want to devote to)
