Malý Berlín is looking for a cultural manager, curator or researcher from Central and Eastern Europe to participate in a three-month residency in Trnava, Slovakia.

Malý Berlín is a member of the Trans Europe Halles network, where we launched the Easthub platform – within which we actively try to develop cultural cooperation between post-communist countries. Our international projects also cover topics such as cultural heritage, innovation, modernism, and climate change. We see this residency program as an opportunity to establish new collaborations and to learn more about other countries in our region and their art scenes.

The residency program offers a fully equipped apartment in the historic center of the city with a quiet work space, a monthly stipend, and reimbursement of travel expenses. The selected resident will be free to continue working on his/her own projects, but we expect him/her to do something directly with us or in our cultural center.

Duration:
May – July 2024 (3 months)

Who are we looking for?

The open call is aimed at cultural managers, curators and researchers with diverse backgrounds, training, experiences and aspirations from all post-communist countries in Europe and South Caucasus with the exception of the Russian Federation.

The selection of candidate will be based on experience, proposal and the relevancy of past/present projects in CV.

Criteria for participant:

  • young or mid-career cultural manager, curator and researcher
  • fluent in English (or Slovak / Czech)
  • previous experience with international projects is not necessary but can be an advantage

What does the residency offer?

  • scholarship of 500 € per month (1500 € in total),
  • reimbursement of travel expenses up to 500 €,
  • accommodation during the residency,
  • networking opportunities with the local scene,
  • the opportunity to present his or her work, interests, activities and ideas to the public,
  • full access to cultural centre Malý Berlín and Its office in the city centre.

Expected outputs from the residency:

  • active participation,
  • reports on a weekly basis,
  • public presentation of his or her work and activities.
