Borek Brindák comes from Košice. He completed his bachelor’s studies at the Faculty of Arts at Technical University of Košice in the ASK3D studio. In September 2021, he began his master’s studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. He participated in several collective exhibitions, among them, for example, Artrooms Moravany 2 (Kaštieľ Moravany, 2020), Interventions in Time (Múzeum Bojnice, 2019) and “skafander” (Spišské múzeum, 2018).

It is characteristic of his work that he always looks for a corresponding visual solution for a certain topic or concept. He doesn’t confine himself to a single technique, but uses a wide range of artistic means of expression and likes to experiment with different techniques and technologies, raging from classic sculptural materials to kinetic constructions. However, the sculptural basis, strongly present in the presented work, remains essential for him.

The goal of the residency

During his stay, he worked mainly on a site-specific art installation, which was the basis for the exhibition Vectors of Decisions held in Čepan Gallery. In addition, there was a guided tour and an artist talk, where he spoke more deeply about his work.

What did the residency provide you and why would you recommend it to others?

“Staying in Malý Berlín was a wonderful experience. I met great people there and stayed in touch with them even after the residency. I experienced interesting cultural events there, and I also felt good in the resident’s apartment.”
