Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is far more than a technical requirement—it is the heartbeat of every successful international project. It allows organizations to track their progress in real-time and, more importantly, to assess the long-term impact of their work. A clear and logical M&E system is essential for achieving strategic goals and remains a critical component of project proposal assessments and donor reporting.

This beginner-friendly, practical training session is designed to demystify M&E. We will introduce the Theory of Change model to help you plan your activities with their ultimate outcomes in mind. By the end of the session, you will have a better understanding of the context in which your organization operates and the specific change you wish to create. Most importantly, you will walk away with a clear roadmap of 1–3 next steps to effectively monitor and evaluate your ongoing work.

What you will learn:

  • M&E Fundamentals: Understanding the core principles of monitoring progress versus evaluating performance and impact.
  • The Theory of Change: How to use this model as a powerful tool for planning activities and defining desired outcomes.
  • Practical Toolkit: Selecting the right indicators and methods tailored to your organization’s unique context.
  • Impact Mapping: Gaining clarity on the social or environmental change your organization brings to its community.
  • Strategic Readiness: How to use M&E to strengthen project proposals and attract sustainable funding.
